Privacy Policy

Dhor is a Quran revision app operated by KAHK Group ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what the service needs to work, we don't run ads, and we never sell your data.

1. Information we collect

Account information. Your email address, display name, optional profile photo, and timezone. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from that provider through Firebase Authentication.
Gender. Collected during onboarding and used for one purpose: pairing you with revision partners of the same gender.
Revision data. Your goals, revision logs, streaks, marked mistakes, weak spots, bookmarks, availability schedule, and circle memberships.
Session audio. Live sessions transmit your voice to your partner in real time. Dhor can also save a recording so you can listen back afterwards — this is off until you agree to it, the app shows a recording indicator the whole time it is capturing, and you can turn it off again at any point under Profile. You are only ever recorded on your own device: your partner's voice is never in your recording, and only you can play it back. We keep your ten most recent recordings and delete older ones automatically.
Device and log data. A push-notification token for your device (if you enable notifications) and basic server logs kept for security and debugging.

2. How we use it

To run Dhor: matching you with partners, running live sessions, tracking your progress, and powering circles and leaderboards.
To send transactional email — a welcome message when you join and password-reset links when you request them (delivered via Resend).
To send push notifications you've opted into, such as daily revision reminders and session requests.
To respond when you contact us for support.

3. What we don't do

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not show ads. We do not use your data for third-party marketing. Your recitations are between you, your revision partner, and Allah — not advertisers.

4. What other users can see

Your display name, initials or photo, and revision stats (pages, streaks, error averages) are visible to your revision partners and members of circles you join, including on circle leaderboards. Mistakes marked during a session are visible to you and the partner who listened.

5. Service providers

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run Dhor, each processing only what's needed for their function: Google Firebase (sign-in, storage, push notifications), Neon (database hosting), LiveKit (live audio), Vercel (API and website hosting), and Resend (transactional email). Dhor has no purchases, so we neither collect nor process payment information.

6. Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Session recordings are pruned periodically. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the app; this permanently erases your revision history, sessions, marked mistakes, recordings, and circle memberships, and removes your sign-in credentials. If you'd rather we do it, email salam@dhor.app from your account address.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted, and authentication is handled by Firebase. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your information seriously.

8. Children

Dhor is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and note the change in the app or by email.
